Sam Gornall Driver Profile

Sam is an exciting young racing talent who has established a healthy reputation by achieving remarkable results at the age of 15.

Since first taking to a kart at the age of five, Sam has demonstrated a natural aptitude for motor sport. His progress through the karting ranks towards his ambition hopefully demonstrate the potential of this young driver's future motorsport journey.

Race Biography

  • In his first year of racing in 2013, Sam aged just 6, won the Daytona Formula Bambino Championship at Manchester over 12 round.
  • Sam then moved on to IKR Comer Cadet racing aged 7 at Hooton Park, Cheshire for a part season finishing 5th.
  • On his 8th birthday Sam passed his ARKS test and progressed to MSA IAME Cadet racing at Manchester & Buxton Kart Club.
  • In his first full MSA season Sam finished as runner up Rookie in IAME Cadet class at the MBKC Club Championship, racing as a lad and dad team.
  • In 2016 Sam Joined Mike Anderson’s JA Racing cadet team, again competing in the MBKC Club Championship, finishing a creditable 6th in IAME Cadet.
  • In 2017 racing for Ben Hingeleys’s Ultimate R kart team racing IAME Cadet, Sam had a tightly fought battle for the MBKC championship eventually finishing as Vice Champion (by a single point), as well as finishing 3rd in the CHKRC championship at Hooton Park.
  • 2018 saw Sam moved up to national level competition for the first time, competing in the ‘Super One’ British Championship in the Rotax Mini Max class with Kartal Motorsport and latterly Coles Racing. Sam acquitted himself well as the youngest driver finishing 8th in the Championship and becoming for the first time an ABKC seeded driver.
  • For 2019 he continued for a second year racing in the Mini Max class with Coles Racing for the Demon Tweeks British Kart Championships, finishing a strong season as vice Champion
  • 2020 was the year Sam moved up to the more powerful Junior Max class and competed in the PFI Winter series and finished 1st against a very high quality national grid.
  • In 2020 Sam continuing with Coles Racing in the Junior Max class in the Demon Tweeks British Kart Championships finishing a creditable 4th
  • For 2021 Sam continued racing in the Junior Rotax with Coles Racing and competed in the Wera Tools British Kart Championships and in a very close Championship where he finished as Vice Champion.
  • In 2021 Sam competed for the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, against over 60 other drivers. Only one place was available and Sam got through to the 10 finalist based on a mix of driving, media and physical fitness assesments. He was competing against many individuals who had more experience and testing with the cars.

Sam currently races with the Coles Racing team and has transitioned to Senior Rotax. However for 2022 he is currently looking to progress to either the Michelin Ginetta Juniors or to the Avon National Formula Ford Championships. Sam has been given the opportunity race with front running teams in both these Championships, which are the proving ground for British motorsport talent and are the next step upon on the competition ladder.

Sam is a personable young man and has demonstrated that he has the necessary dedication and commitment to pursue his passion in motorsport to the highest level. He has consistently shown that he can work well with driver coaches and can effectively apply any feedback to his racing. Sam is very much a team player who integrates well with fellow teammates.
